Call answering: every call taken, in both directions, without a meter running

The phone is answered live at 9pm on a Sunday the same way it is at 10am on a Tuesday — by something that knows your service area, your service list and your technicians' hours. No voicemail, no cap, no per-minute charge. And every call comes back to you afterwards with the recording, the transcript, the outcome and the reason behind it.

On every plan Inbound and outbound, 24/7.

What happens when the phone rings

Answered the way your best front-desk hire would answer it

Answering is not the same as capturing a message. What separates the two is how much the thing picking up already knows about your business before the caller says a word.

  1. The call is answered live

Every call, day or night, weekends and holidays included. There is no voicemail box behind it and no per-minute meter running while it talks.

  2. It answers as your business, not as a script

Your name, your service catalog, your coverage, your technicians' working hours. It knows the difference between a no-heat call at 9pm and a quote request, because it was set up with your trade rather than a generic greeting.

  3. Spam and wrong numbers are filtered out

Robocalls and misdials do not become leads, do not become tasks, and are never billable. They stay on the record so your call volume is honest, and off the list of things you have to deal with.

  4. A person picks up when the call needs one

Warm or blind transfer, on every plan. Warm transfer briefs whoever answers on what the caller needs, so nobody has to repeat themselves. If a caller asks for a person, they get a person.

  5. Urgency is escalated, not queued

Calls flagged as emergencies bypass your working-hours mask and go to whoever is on call. Receva is not an emergency dispatch service — it routes urgency to you fast rather than sitting on it until morning.

  6. Missed calls get called back

If a call comes in that isn't answered — a dropped line, a caller who hangs up before it connects — Receva rings back automatically, qualifies them and books them if it can. Included on every plan, and not metered.

What it won't do

It doesn't claim to be a person. Asked directly, it says what it is. It won't book a visit outside your coverage, won't promise an arrival time for an emergency, and won't hold a complaint it should be handing to you. The point of publishing that list is that you can plan around it.

Recorded, and disclosed

Callers are told the call may be recorded. Recordings and transcripts are visible to users in your account only, and the transcript is fetched when you open the call rather than kept in a second copy somewhere else. Retention is yours to set. How that's handled

Watch a call play out

The call that should end with a human

Most demos show the booking. This is the other one: an existing customer with an invoice question, at ten to five, who asks for someone in the office. Nothing here is billable, and the handover is the whole product.

Receva

Thanks for calling Ridgeline Heating and Air — this call's recorded. What can I help you with?

Caller

I got the invoice for last Thursday's visit and the amount doesn't match the quote I was given. Can I speak to someone in the office about it?

Receva

Yes — that's one for Rita rather than me. Can I take your name and the address the visit was at, so she has it in front of her when she picks up?

Caller

Dana Whitfield, 8129 East Iliff.

Receva

Thanks, Dana. Staying on the line with you — connecting now.

Office

Hi Dana — I've got Thursday's visit at East Iliff open, and the invoice next to the quote. Let's go through it line by line.

Caller

That's great, thank you.

Outcome

An existing customer with a billing question was answered in seconds, briefed onto the right person, and handed over with the visit and the invoice already pulled up. No lead was created and nothing was billed — this is a call answering service earning its keep by not being in the way.

Nothing happens on a call that you can't read back

An answering service leaves you a note. This leaves you the call. Every record carries what happened, when, and on what basis — which is the difference between trusting a system and auditing one.

Sentiment, outcome and the written summary are assessments made by the AI — the record labels them that way on screen, rather than presenting them as confirmed fact.

Getting your calls to it

You decide which calls it answers, and from which number

Nobody sensible hands over the whole phone line on day one. The forwarding rule is yours, and it can be as narrow as you like until you've read a week of transcripts.

Your number, or a new one

Receva provisions a number you can forward to, or you point your existing business number at it. Either way the caller sees your business, not a third party.

All calls, after hours, or overflow

Forward everything, forward only outside your opening hours, or forward when nobody in the office picks up. Most owners start with after-hours only.

Transfers point where you say

You set who transfers reach and during which hours. Outside those hours a call is qualified and booked, or escalated if it's an emergency, rather than ringing an empty office.

Unlimited, both directions

No per-minute charge, in or out — and the fair-use line is published

A storm week is when answering matters most, and it's exactly when a per-minute contract punishes you for it. Receva doesn't meter the call. What it does have is a fair-use allowance per plan, printed here rather than buried.

Call allowances and the per-booked-job fee by plan. Full detail on the pricing section and in the fair-use policy.
Plan Monthly Fair-use call minutes Per booked job
Starter $199 1,200 / month $10
Pro $349 3,000 / month $8
Growth from $599 9,000 / month $6

Fair use covers inbound and outbound minutes together. Going past it starts a conversation about whether you're on the right plan — it does not stop calls being answered, and there is no overage rate that quietly appears on an invoice.

Inbound is unmetered

No per-minute or per-call charge on any plan, at any hour. Your busiest month costs the same as your slowest.

Outbound is included

Missed-call recovery and follow-up calls are part of the product on every plan, not an add-on with its own meter.

You only pay for booked jobs

Answering the call is never the billable event — a booking written to your calendar is. What counts as a booked job

Questions

Call answering, answered directly

Is unlimited really unlimited?

There is no per-minute or per-call charge on any plan, inbound or outbound. Each plan carries a published fair-use allowance — 1,200 minutes a month on Starter, 3,000 on Pro, 9,000 on Growth.

Exceeding it triggers a conversation about the right plan, never a cut-off. Calls do not stop being answered.

Can it transfer a caller to a real person?

Yes, on every plan, warm or blind. A warm transfer briefs whoever picks up on what the caller needs, so the homeowner doesn't repeat themselves.

You set who transfers go to and during which hours. Outside those hours the call is qualified and booked, or escalated if it's an emergency.

Do I need a new phone number?

No. Receva provisions a number you can forward to, or you point your existing business number at it. The forwarding rule is yours — all calls, after hours only, or overflow when nobody picks up.

Most businesses start with after-hours forwarding, read a week of transcripts, then move to full time.

Are calls recorded, and who can hear them?

Yes, and callers are told at the start of the call. Recordings and transcripts are visible only to users in your account, and you can download or delete them. The transcript is fetched when you open the call rather than kept in a second copy elsewhere.

Recording behaviour and retention are configurable to meet the disclosure rules where you operate.

What happens with emergency calls?

Urgency is captured on every call, and calls flagged as emergencies bypass your working-hours mask and escalate to whoever is on call. It gives immediate practical guidance where that's safe — where the water shut-off is, for instance — then hands the call to a human.

To be clear about what this isn't: Receva is not an emergency dispatch service, and it will not promise an arrival time it can't keep.

Am I charged for calls that don't book anything?

No. Answering the call is never the billable event. Wrong numbers, spam, existing customers with a question, out-of-area callers and calls that simply end all cost nothing, however long they ran.

The per-booked-job fee applies only when a real appointment is written to your calendar. The full definition is published, including everything that's never billable.

What if it gets a call wrong?

You take it over. Every call has a recording, a transcript, the qualification result and the reason behind each decision, so you can see exactly what happened and change the setup that caused it. Exceptions surface as items to handle rather than failing silently.

We don't claim it's never wrong. We claim you can always see what it did.

A call answered is a job you didn't lose.
